I had the privilege over the last two weekends to shoot a music video with Corey Nolen. We got to shoot at he and his wife's beautiful fixer upper house in Birmingham, and having my husband as a part of the process was the icing on the cake.

The song, sung by and video get into the up-close struggles of a married couple, and I love the honest approach that Corey took to writing the song and shooting the video. It was a fantastic project to be a part of, and should be coming out this spring.

I am happy to announce that I have been cast as Thaisa in Shakespeare's Pericles. This is a production by The Rude Mechanicals that is actually entitled Pericles: The Good Parts Version.

I had not read the play until recently, and it is now one of my favorite of Shakespeare's works. It has shipwrecks and fights to win the maiden and death and honor and a beautiful ending. If you aren't familiar with Pericles, this is a great chance to see it for the first time!
At the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) in Chattanooga this Saturday, March 7, I will be presenting a paper I wrote entitled "The Effect of Acting on Actors". The paper was selected as the graduate winner of the Young Scholars Award. I am excited to share this topic with others, as I think it is so important for us to start understanding more about how our characters shape our character, and about how to thrive as healthy actors, doing great work while leading rich lives.
We are getting ready for the big move to Alabama! I am excited to get started in the MFA in Acting program at the University of Alabama, and looking forward to meeting the other students. This fall I will be taking Stage Dialects, Theatre History, Period Acting Styles, and Singing. Really, those are my classes? I have to take them? This girl is happy!

Being part of the cast of Godspell last month was a very special experience, and I will cherish the memories of it.

In other news, I saw that the video is online for the voice concert I was a part of here in Tulsa with The bART Center for Music. Click here for the concert link. My piece, Puccini's O, Mio Babbino Caro, runs from 53:27-55:43.

While I do not see myself pursuing opera in the near future, I learned so much from John Townsend, my voice teacher, through the classical foundations of voice. And I have to admit, it was fun to sing a bit of Italian opera--it took me back to a semester I spent in Tuscany in college.

Enjoy!

I'll be singing Puccini's O Mio Babbino Caro.
I have studied voice with John Townsend at The bART since last fall, and have loved the chance to collaborate with him while learning more about how to really use my singing voice.
The concert will be held Tuesday, May 14, time and location TBD, and will feature students from both the Conservatory and the Music Center.

After a rigorous preparation and audition period this last November-January, I am very excited to announce that I have been accepted to the MFA in Acting program at the University of Alabama's Department of Theatre & Dance. I will begin classes as well as a teaching assistantship in August.

The program lasts three years, and includes training in voice, movement, classical works, musical theatre voice and dance, on-camera acting, as well as classes in other areas of the theater craft.

I am so very excited for the opportunity to invest three years in intensive training and hands-on work, for the chance to really hone my craft and enhance my career opportunities in the performing arts.

A special thank you to Jenny Guy, Jeri Smith, Courtneay Sanders, and Robert Walters for their coaching, and especially to my husband, Chris, for his support and love.

I will end this post with my first official internet posting of Alabama spirit:
They are casting a guy and a girl for 5th grade video curriculum. I am being considered for the role of Kelly.
Come see the longest-running play in the world (running at the St. Martins Theatre in London since 1952). Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap tells the story of a group of strangers stranded in a boarding house during a snow storm, one of whom is a murderer. A classic whodunnit on a winter's night at a great price.

Elizabeth plays Mollie Ralston, one half of the married couple who run the boarding house.Elizabethhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15583430569047519088noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6008954240997962369.post-82012161235058510012011-12-05T19:36:00.000-08:002011-12-05T19:36:56.952-08:00Booked: The MousetrapI have just been cast as Mollie Ralston in Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap at Sapulpa Community Theater, a short drive from Tulsa.

I look forward to taking on this new challenge, my first Agatha Christie, and am very excited to play opposite Robert Young, who is currently cast with me in A Christmas Carol as Mr. Cratchit.

The show is directed by Todd Campbell and runs February 10-12 and 17-19, for a total of 8 performances.Elizabethhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15583430569047519088noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6008954240997962369.post-73418406601322058282011-11-12T10:07:00.000-08:002011-11-12T10:07:13.671-08:00I Have RepresentationYesterday I interviewed with the Linda Layman Agency here in Tulsa, and was accepted into their talent roster! The role I am playing, Charlotte, turns out to be more featured than I had originally realized. The American Theatre Company's version of the tale really allows the audience to feel the pain of Scrooge's decisions--especially in a heart-wrenching duet between the young Ebeneezer and his love, Belle.

Scrooge's nephew, Fred, and Fred's wife, Charlotte, embody the hope of what could have been and now could be for the old miser.

This show has been a holiday tradition in Tulsa for over 30 years, and is a great one to bring the kids to if you are looking for some family bonding time, or have relatives in town. I am absolutely loving the process of creating this show--obsessed really--and would love for you to share the experience.Elizabethhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15583430569047519088noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6008954240997962369.post-32513332298771621042011-10-01T19:08:00.001-07:002011-10-01T19:09:42.921-07:00Booked: A Christmas CarolI was just cast in American Theatre Company's musical production of A Christmas Carol.
