The Big Move/Voice Concert Video

We are getting ready for the big move to Alabama!  I am excited to get started in the MFA in Acting program at the University of Alabama, and looking forward to meeting the other students.  This fall I will be taking Stage Dialects, Theatre History, Period Acting Styles, and Singing.  Really, those are my classes?  I have to take them?  This girl is happy!

Being part of the cast of Godspell last month was a very special experience, and I will cherish the memories of it.

In other news, I saw that the video is online for the voice concert I was a part of here in Tulsa with The bART Center for Music.  Click here for the concert link.  My piece, Puccini's O, Mio Babbino Caro, runs from 53:27-55:43.

While I do not see myself pursuing opera in the near future, I learned so much from John Townsend, my voice teacher, through the classical foundations of voice.  And I have to admit, it was fun to sing a bit of Italian opera--it took me back to a semester I spent in Tuscany in college.

Casting/Show Info: Voice Recital

After a positive audition yesterday, I've been chosen to participate in The bART Center for Music's (formerly Barthelmes Conservatory) Spring Open Concert.

I'll be singing Puccini's O Mio Babbino Caro.

I have studied voice with John Townsend at The bART since last fall, and have loved the chance to collaborate with him while learning more about how to really use my singing voice.

The concert will be held Tuesday, May 14, time and location TBD, and will feature students from both the Conservatory and the Music Center.

Very Big News: MFA in Acting

After a rigorous preparation and audition period this last November-January, I am very excited to announce that I have been accepted to the MFA in Acting program at the University of Alabama's Department of Theatre & Dance.  I will begin classes as well as a teaching assistantship in August.

The program lasts three years, and includes training in voice, movement, classical works, musical theatre voice and dance, on-camera acting, as well as classes in other areas of the theater craft.

I am so very excited for the opportunity to invest three years in intensive training and hands-on work, for the chance to really hone my craft and enhance my career opportunities in the performing arts.

A special thank you to Jenny Guy, Jeri Smith, Courtneay Sanders, and Robert Walters for their coaching, and especially to my husband, Chris, for his support and love.

Casting/Show Info: Godspell

I have been given the role of Robin in Godspell, a show I have wanted to be a part of ever since seeing the Broadway revival last year.

(If you are only a little bit familiar with the musical, Robin is the character who sings Day by Day.)

The production is being put on by the Parish of St. Bernard of Clairvaux and is directed by Joel Bicknell.

Oliver! Opening

Oliver opened last night, and is getting great audience response.  A couple of weeks ago, I was given the role of Mrs. Bedwin, the maid who serves Mr. Brownlow and takes care of Oliver.  I am loving the role.  You can also see me as a Londoner in Consider Yourself and a tavern-goer in Oom Pah Pah.  I am happy to be a part of this cast and production.

We are sold out for tomorrow (our first two performances were also sold out), but you can still get tickets for next Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.

I have been cast as part of the ensemble for Theatre Tulsa's production of Oliver!, which goes onstage in March.  I am excited for the chance to work with Sara Phoenix, who will be directing the show.  She gave me some very positive feedback from the audition.

Casting/Show Info: A Christmas Carol

This December, I will be reprising my role as Charlotte in American Theatre Company's A Christmas Carol, a musical version of Dicken's classic story. 

The role of Charlotte, Scrooge's niece, involves a duet with Fred as part of the big all-cast number in the first act.  Charlotte and Fred also lead the party scene at their house, in which Scrooge witnesses the gaiety of the season.

This is a great show for all ages, and a beloved holiday tradition for Tulsans, so if you are in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area in December, buy your tickets now!
